FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Rex Ryan isn’t a mind reader, obviously, but he suspects Tim Tebow might be disappointed he came to the Jets.

“That’s probably a true statement,” the Jets’ coach said Monday on his weekly spot on the Michael Kay Show on ESPN New York 98.7 FM. “As a competitor, you want to have success, you want to have, probably, more opportunities and things like that.”

But Ryan added: “I think he’s happy to be a Jet. I truly believe that. But in my heart of hearts, I think we all thought there might be more success for him, even personally, running the Wildcat, doing different things than he’s enjoyed so far. But there’s still three games left in the regular season and we’ll see what happens in those games.”

Ryan said he doesn’t regret the trade for Tebow. He revealed that he would’ve used Tebow at quarterback Sunday if the Jets had been able to pull away from the Jaguars. Ryan said he would’ve liked to have seen Tebow play before his many fans in his hometown — but no passes, only handoffs. Tebow is recovering from fractured ribs.

Tebow hasn’t played in the last three games. In the first 10 games, he appeared in only 63 offensive snaps.
